AMA Supermoto National Championship Series kicks off March 7 in Las Vegas, Nev.

PICKERINGTON, Ohio — The American Motorcyclist Association and USA Supermoto are pleased to announce the AMA Supermoto National Championship Series. The six-round series will kick off at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, Nev., on March 7.

“Supermoto is an amazing sport to watch and an even more amazing sport to compete in,” said AMA Vice President of Operations Jeff Massey. “Since the beginning, supermoto has needed a true grass-roots network U.S. to help sustain the top level of competition. This series will help accomplish that goal by giving today’s amateur and sportsman-level competitors a place to race, feeding the sport with expert-level talent going forward, and providing a showcase for sponsors and teams active in the discipline.”

The AMA Supermoto National Championship Series will include novice, youth, intermediate, age- and displacement-based classes as well as classes that will feature some of the best supermoto talent in the country. Online registration will be available soon at www.amanationalsupermoto.com.

“We had a great inaugural season in 2013, and we’re excited to step up our program for the new season as an AMA National Championship Series,” said Matt Stewart, president of USA Supermoto, the AMA’s promoting partner for the series. “We have been working with the AMA for some time to strengthen supermoto racing in the United States, and everything has been positive. We’re looking forward to watching our racers compete for AMA national No. 1 plates in 2014.”

Supermoto combines exciting elements of motocross, dirt track and road racing into one dynamic discipline. It features jumps, high-speed straights and both dirt and asphalt surfaces. Track variations and venues can vary considerably. Supermoto events have taken place at purpose-built facilities, in sports stadiums, on casino properties and on closed-course cityscape street layouts.

The discipline originated in the United States in the late 1970s and was initially popularized by the “Superbikers” show that featured the best dirt trackers, motocrossers and road racers of the time.

It is with great pleasure that I present the following Chrome Capes produced mini film that tells my story and why I am the guy you should choose to represent and help provide exposure for your company at the race track:

Please visit http://weigracing.com/sponsorship/new-sponsors/  to see how you can join my team of satisfied sponsors by pledging your support to help me chase down another championship in 2014.  There are many options available and quite honestly ,  any and all support offered  really does make a big difference in helping offset the fees and expenses associated with racing at this level of competition. In return for any support given, I  ALWAYS go above and beyond the average racer’s efforts to provide maximum exposure and positive impressions for all of my sponsors.  If you can not or do not want to help as a team sponsor, you can still help me by sharing this video and post with your friends, family, and social network.  Every view and person that sees this really does help the cause.

About the producers:
This video is the result of many hours of editing, shooting, and post production work by two fine gentlemen at Chrome Capes named Andrew Kinsler and Jason Forman. These guys are passionate about motorcycles and film work. If you have a video project that you would like their help with, they have all the knowledge and equipment necessary to make your project a success.  Please contact them directly at:  andrew.kinsler@gmail.com  (or) jason@illking.com

Thank you very much for your time, I hope you enjoyed the video.

The following schedule was released on 12/17/2013 by the management of USA PRO SUPERMOTO and I am excited to see such great venues lined up for 2014. We will be racing in front of really large crowds in conjunction with NASCAR, AMA, and STADIUM SUPERTRUCK events throughout the season. SST On The Strip At Caesars Palace

Charlotte, N.C. (October 18, 2013) – Caesars Palace Las Vegas has hosted some of the greatest entertainment acts in the world – from Evel Knievel, to Frank Sinatra and Celine Dion, to the Formula One World Championship events in 1981 and 1982. On Thursday, November 7, 2013, taking part simultaneously with the automotive industry’s premier trade show, SEMA, Las Vegas history will once again be made as the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks™ event (SST) makes its way to Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip.
The race track for this special one-day only event will be constructed in front of Caesars Palace. High-flying SST trucks will propel past The Colosseum and through the Caesars Palace marquee. Fans will be thoroughly entertained as the high horse-powered SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks battle door-to-door, drifting around the seven-turn asphalt racecourse and flying over specially constructed metal ramps. This event is open to the public. Tickets can purchased onsite at Caesars Palace or in advance at http://www.stadiumsupertrucks.com.

An event at Caesars has long been a vision of series President, Robby Gordon. The unique form of racing that SST offers was immensely popular more than 20 years ago – known then as the Mickey Thompson Off-Road Championship – and fittingly Gordon, one of the world’s greatest off-road racers, has brought it back to life.

“Bringing SST to Caesars during SEMA Show week, the world’s most premier automotive specialty products trade event,is something unheard of,” said Gordon. “We would like to thank everyone at Caesars Palace and The Forum Shops at Caesars for giving us the opportunity to present a race like this. Getting to race SST trucks on this property is something phenomenal.”

“Through the years Caesars Palace has always set the standard and continually raised the bar on the Las Vegas Strip,” said Caesars Palace Regional President Gary Selesner. “An event like this is special because it pays homage to the historical attention-grabbing events that Caesars Palace is known for – like Evel Knievel and the Formula One races, yet also brings forth a new element of exciting entertainment for our guests. We are thrilled to welcome SST with this monumental event and encourage locals and race fans alike to join in on the action.”

In addition to the SST lineup, USA Pro SuperMoto and Modified Trophy Karts will be competing with a full program of qualifying and main events.
Keep up with all the latest news and results on SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks Series by liking us on Facebook and following us on Twitter.

On the day of the event, access to the valet at The Forum Shops will be limited.CAESARS PALACE

Racing a SoCal Supermoto bike at Qualcomm was a huge success!

SoCal Supermoto launches a new website in honor of my 1 year Sumo Birthday! ;)

It’s my birthday and I’ll toot if I want to.
(pic from my first supermoto trackday)

I have been ranting and raving about this stinkin’ So Cal Supermoto company and the nut job Brian that runs it for about 15 months now…. I feel it’s pretty warranted, here’s why: June of 2012 I signed up for a SoCal Supermoto school for the very first time. I fell in love with it from the very first session of the day.

Fast forward 3 months and it is September of 2012 – I built my first supermoto race bike and went racing for the first time.

(pic of my first supermoto bike and race)

That’s right, one year ago this month I raced Supermoto for the very first time and now one year later I am signed up to race in my 2nd PRO race and I am finishing on the podium in just about every single race that I enter. This is all due in large part to the introduction to supermoto and the training that I have received along the way from So Cal Supermoto.
As a celebration for my one year anniversary of owning and racing a supermoto race bike, SoCal Supermoto has completely redesigned and launched a new website. Check it out: www.socalsupermoto.com

(ok.. perhaps its just a coincidence that they created a new site on my birthday… but thats the story I am sticking with)

(pic of me getting ready to kick butt at the local race series just last month)

Go check their calendar and find a date that works for your schedule and then do yourself a huge favor and give supermoto a try, you will love it!
